Weather: Showers and drizzle, double-digit highs Thursday and Friday

The forecast is a preview of April showers — and temperatures — with more grey skies, rain and highs of 10 C in the forecast for Thursday and Friday.

A total of 11 mm of rain fell at the Ottawa airport Wednesday, with showers and periods of drizzle expected to continue until about noon Thursday, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

There’s a 40 per cent chance of more showers into Thursday night, then periods of rain mixed with drizzle are expected to begin before morning along with patches of fog.

The forecast low is 5 C.

Precipitation is expected to end Friday morningm but theres a 40 per cent chance of showers with the mercury again expected to reach 10 C.

Friday night’s temps are forecast to dip to 1 C with a 60 per cent chance of showers or flurries.

There’s a 60 per cent chance of showers or flurries through Saturday with an expected return to more seasonal temperatures. The forecast high is 5 C and the low is -7 C.

Temperatures are expected to plunge Sunday with a high of -8 C and a low of -17 C. There’s a 60 per cent chance of showers or flurries during the day and a 60 per cent chance of flurries overnight.

“Normals” for this time of year are highs of 5 C and lows of -5 C.

Sunrise was at 6:58 a.m. Thursday and sunset is at 7:19 p.m.
