Weather: High of 1 C Wednesday with chance of flurries or rain, snow by Friday

It was -10 C at the Ottawa airport as the sun rose Wednesday, but we’re not expected to get temperatures this chilly again for days.

Wednesday is expected to reach 1 C with the temperature holding steady overnight, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Expect mixed skies with a 60 per cent of flurries or rain showers late Wednesday afternoon and overnight.

Thursday is expected to reach 2 C under cloudy skies with a 60 per cent chance of flurries or rain showers. Thursday night is expected to dip to -5 C.

Periods of snow are forecast for Friday and snow Friday night with the temperature expected to reach 0 C and stay there overnight.

Periods of snow are expected to continue Saturday with a high of 1 C, before the mercury plunges to -23 C Saturday night.

Mixed skies and highs of -14 C and -12 C are in the forecast for Sunday and Monday. Predicted lows are -22 C and -21 C.

“Normals” for this time of year are highs of -5 C and lows of -14 C.

Sunrise on Wednesday is at 7:13 a.m. and sunset is at 5:20 p.m.
