Two arrested after Friday night assault in ByWard Market

Two Ottawa men have been arrested in connection with an attack in the ByWard Market late Friday.

Police said they were called to the intersection of George and Cumberland streets at 11:30 p.m.

The victim was found at the scene with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The suspects, aged 42 and 38, were arrested soon after that.

They were to appear in court Saturday morning.

Both men were charged with breach of probation plus a number of assault and weapons offences.

Police said there was no link between this incident and to Canada Day activities in downtown Ottawa.
