Police seek witnesses after pedestrian, 81, dies after being struck on Hazeldean Road

Ottawa police collision investigators are looking for witnesses after an 81-year-old man was fatally injured when he was struck by a car as he crossed Hazeldean Road on Wednesday.

Patrol officers responded to the collision about 460 metres east of Castlefrank Road at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Ottawa Police Service said in a release Thursday.

The Ottawa man was crossing Hazeldean Road northbound when he was hit by a brown 2008 Honda Civic that was travelling east.

The victim was pronounced dead in hospital, police said.

Investigators want to talk to anyone who witnessed the collision, helped first responders at the scene or may have dash camera video, but has yet to speak to police.
