Mounties are investigating after a 20-year-old woman was struck and killed in a pedestrian hit-and-run in Canmore on Sunday morning.

The Canmore RCMP has released few details about the incident but traffic reports indicate police responded to the scene on the Trans Canada Highway west of Canmore near the Visitor Information Centre before 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

The RCMP is diverting traffic in the eastbound lane of Highway 1 from the Information Centre onto Bow Valley Trail as officers continue to investigate. According to 511 Alberta, there is no estimated time for the road to reopen.
