Ottawa firefighters take down two-alarm fire in Bells Corners


The fire, which began around 5 p.m. in the backyard of a single-family home on Foothills Drive, near Redfield Avenue, spread to the back of the home and up to the roof.

Ottawa firefighters quelled a two-alarm fire in Bells Corners on Tuesday evening.

The fire, which began around 5 p.m. in the backyard of a single-family home on Foothills Drive, near Redfield Avenue, spread to the back of the home and up to the roof, emanating heavy smoke and flames. In a 911 call, an occupant of the home had reported that wood was on fire in the yard.

Ottawa Fire Services called on extra resources after crews arrived on scene and declared the blaze a two-alarm fire. It was brought under control at 5:51 p.m. The majority of the fire was knocked down in the attic, the fire service said in a release.

OFS reported no injuries. An investigator was on the scene to attempt to determine the cause of the fire.
