Maeve Bellefontaine was working at her part-time job as a beauty specialist at Shoppers Drug Mart when she heard a loud crash, and a car “that came flying this way, hit my car and then came up onto the sidewalk.” Bellefontaine saw it happen through the store’s Gladstone Avenue windows, and ran outside.

“I was worried about my car, but I was also worried about them (the driver),” said Bellefontaine.

The young driver seemed shocked and disoriented, she said.

This newspaper confirmed with police that there had been no fatalities linked to the incident. No information about injuries was released.

Bellefontaine said she spoke to the driver of another vehicle struck in the incident — a father, driving with his young son in the car and preparing to turn onto Gladstone when they were hit. Their airbags didn’t deploy, but both seemed unharmed, said Bellefontaine.

At least one other vehicle was damaged in the incident, though what exactly occurred was unclear.
