A Great Horned Owl who also happens to be a hard-boiled detective sets out to solve a mystery in a new children’s play that debuts at Shenkman Arts Centre this weekend.

Poached Eggs: A Hoo-Hoo-Hooooo-Dunnit is a production of the Ottawa School of Theatre.
The play is written by Bruce Deachman, a writer at the Ottawa Citizen and Sun, and Joanna Henry, a Toronto-based author and writing coach.
It’s about a pair of endangered whooping crane eggs missing from the River Heights Zoological Garden. It’s up to Detective Starnes, a Great Horned Owl, to solve the crime. The suspects include a baseball bat-wielding badger and Coco the cobra.
The play is suitable for ages four and up.
Performances are June 3 at 7 p.m. and June 4 at 2 p.m. at the Shenkman Arts Centre, Harold Shenkman Hall, 245 Centrum Blvd.
Tickets range from $10 to $20.
