The unidentified individual had fallen and hurt an ankle, and two other people were unable to bring the injured hiker out of the forest on their own.

Using information from the injured hiker’s father, who was at an entrance to one of the trails, firefighters located the individual, placed a splint on the injured ankle and used a “sked” rescue device that looks like a sliding stretcher to bring the patient out of the forest just before 3 p.m., or about 80 minutes after receiving the call to report the injury.
