Calgary police respond to three homicides in past 48 hours

Calgary police are investigating their third suspicious death in the past two days, this time in the Crescent Heights neighbourhood.

Police said two men left Jerusalem Shwarma on 2 Street N.W. around 8:30 p.m. Friday night and walked towards their vehicle. Once they were inside their SUV, suspects appeared and fired their guns into the vehicle multiple times, according to a news release sent out Friday night.

A man in his 20s was shot multiple times and the driver of the vehicle drove towards a hospital while calling 911. The two men made it to 16 Avenue N.E. and Deerfoot Trail N.E. where they were met by first responders.

One man was declared dead at the scene.

An autopsy has been scheduled for this week.

Police are asking anyone who may have dashcam footage of eastbound 16 Avenue N.E. to Deerfoot Trail N.E. from 8:30 to 9:45 pm Friday to call police at 403-266-1234. Anyone with information about the death is also asked to call. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers.

Police are also investigating a suspicious death in the southeast community of Radisson Heights. Officers called to the 0-100 block of Radcliffe Close S.E. around 1:30 p.m. Friday for reports of gunshots. When they arrived they found a man in life-threatening conditions who died shortly afterward.

Police are now searching for a vehicle in relation to the shooting, described as a beige or grey Chevrolet Venture minivan.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy was killed in the community of Arbour Lake Thursday.

After receiving reports of an injured person around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, officers went to a green space behind the 100 block of Arbour Meadows Close N.W. where the body was found.

Following an autopsy Friday, police released the identity of the victim as 16-year-old Jal Acor Jal, whose age has alarmed officers.

Police said it is too early to say if the Crescent Heights death is linked to the other two.
