As life slowly returns to ‘normal’, what better way to celebrate than an evening featuring great wine and food, auction items, marvellous music and dance. Such were the trappings at Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s Cork and Canvas held on April 28 at Calgary Petroleum Club.
The signature event, started by Tibor and Livia Fekete 25 years ago, continued its winning ways and this year’s gala was a sold-out affair with 250 guests. Highlights included: a five-course gourmet meal paired with fine wines provided by Zorzal Vineyards and Winery; Argentinian-inspired dance performances by Tango Calgary’s Leo and Yuki Sato; solo piano performances from Janina Fialkowska; and auctioneer John Copithorne’s skill at garnering top dollars for live auction items.
Guests in attendance included: Cork and Canvas gala chair Tim Onyett from Deloitte; Rockwell Automation’s Maydelin Nunez; CPO music director Rune Bergmann; Imperial Oil’s Peter Shaw with his wife Andrea Shaw; Dr. Lacey Symphony sponsors Emma Rokosh and Jeff Wollin; CPO CEO Marc Stevens and his wife Claire Stevens; Keyera’s Eileen Marikar, Nancy Brennan, Kirsten Bell and Kelly Hill; CWB MacLean & Partners’ Anna Premyslova and Kevin Dehod; Dynasty Power’s Nancy Cho, Juan Carlos Morales with Gaurav and Priya Sharma; Blake, Cassels & Graydon’s Monica Cheng, Courtney Carston and Ashton Menuz; Mary Rozsa de Coquet; Andrea Brussa; Patrick Hunter and his wife Sharie; WestJet’s Richard Bartrem; mode models’ Kelly Streit; Pat Moore; Calgary Phil’s Jim Campbell; and others.
