Police responded to the scene shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday. South Glengarry firefighters battled the blaze that fully engulfed the home.
Human remains were found Wednesday at the scene of a house fire on Concession Road 4 in South Glengarry Township on Tuesday night, police said.
The identity of the victim was not being released pending a post mortem examination, the Stormont Dundas and Glengarry detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police said in a release Thursday.
Police had said Wednesday that one person remained unaccounted for after the blaze.
Officers from the detachment responded to the scene shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday. South Glengarry firefighters battled the blaze that fully engulfed the home, police said.
They were continuing to investigate with the help of the detachment’s crime unit and the force’s forensic identification services unit in conjunction with the Ontario Fire Marshal and the Office of the Chief Coroner, the OPP said.
